Happy birthday Star Wars!

Today is may 25th and that is a very special day for Nerds. Today, Star Wars turned 33 years old. (my dad turned 47 today too. Happy birthday dad!) Star Wars is my favirote franchise, and has been since I first saw A New Hope when I was five years old.

Star Wars was created by a legendary director/writer (at least to Nerds anyway) named George Lucas. When Star Wars came out, only a few theatres would play it. If only they knew the movie would become a film legend and make them a lot of money! The first movie, which came out on this day 33 years ago, made 2 billion dollars just on the actual movie! Together, the Star Wars movies ALONE have made 8 billion dollars! Add that up with all the merchandise, and WOW thats a lot of freakin money!

Star Wars all together, has been nominated for 25 awards and won 10 of them. Although the original triliogy is supreme in most of the eyes of the fans and critics, all the movies are good. They inspired a lot of imagination and opened new doors for special effects. 94% of all 63 critics who reviewed the first Star Wars movie agree with me.

Star Wars is a classic and it will be remembered for all time. It's a shame the st00pid kids these days dont appreciate the film and all the hard work it took to make these movies. George Lucas, thank you for the beautiful piece of art you have given us HUZZAH to thee!

Untill next time, Im Lord Semaj, and that will be all.

  1. as a trekkie geek, i know little of Star Wars, but what i do know i like. and as a special effects and commentary whore, i find what i know and like about it amazing. to think! laser gun = 50 ft slinky pulled up to a ladder and hit with a stick! and the guy who did the visual effects also worked on "2001:A Space Odessey." genius.
